Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Antibiotic for Sinusitis Infection

Sinusitis a condition caused by a blockage of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavities.  This blockage begins when a person has a cold or allergies and the sinus cavity lining becomes swollen.  Bacteria can get into the sinus cavities and when they do, they attack the already swollen cavity linings and as a result, greater inflammation occurs and the cilia can no longer flush out the bacteria and mucus.  There are several symptoms of a sinusitis infection which may include cough, congestion, postnasal drip, facial pain and pressure, and green nasal discharge.  When the infection lasts for twelve weeks or more it is chronic and could have added symptoms such as loss of sense of taste and smell and they may become fatigued.

There are various treatments for a sinusitis infection.  One of the most common treatments is a prescribed oral antibiotic.  An oral antibiotic works by flowing though the blood stream to the area of infection.  With a sinusitis infection, it is difficult for an efficient amount of the antibiotic to be delivered to the infection since there is such a small amount of blood vessels in the sinus cavities.  Also, with an oral antibiotic there can be side effects such as stomach pain and urinary tract infection since the antibiotic travels though out whole body in the blood stream.  Nasal sprays are also frequently used though they may only offer relief to the lower part of the sinuses since their particle size is too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the cavities.

Sinus Dynamics’ innovative form of treatment works more effectively and quickly than any other form of sinusitis infection treatment.  Sinus Dynamics nebulized antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and anti-fungals are medications with a small 3.2 micron particle size, so they quickly and easily can get through the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities so they can get to the sinusitis infection.  Sinus Dynamics medications are topical, so there are little to no side effects since they are not absorbed throughout the rest of the blood stream.  Sinus Dynamics has a 98% success rate in patients, and is the safest and easiest form of treatment for sinusitis infections on the market.
