Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection
It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication. |
Sinusitis is a condition which is caused by an obstruction of bacteria and mucus in the sinus cavities. When a person has a cold or allergy, the walls of the sinus cavity become swollen. When bacteria get into the sinus cavities and attack the already swollen lining, greater inflammation occurs causing the cilia to no longer be able to flush out the bacteria and mucus, and the sinusitis infection begins. Some of the numerous symptoms of sinusitis includes cough, congestion, facial pain and pressure, green nasal discharge, and post nasal drip. Frontal sinusitis occurs when the infection lies in the frontal or ethmoid sinuses. The frontal sinuses are located between the eyes and above the nose. When a person has frontal sinusitis, some of the other problems they may experience is a headache in the middle of the forehead and upper tooth pain.
There are several treatments for frontal sinusitis and all other forms of sinusitis as well. Frequently physicians will prescribe oral antibiotics. Oral antibiotics work on infections by traveling through the blood stream to the infected area. One of the problems with oral antibiotics being used to treat sinusitis is that there are very few blood vessels in the sinus cavities, therefore an efficient amount of medication cannot be delivered. Over the counter and prescribed nasal sprays are also often used by patients. Nasal sprays may only offer relief to the lower part of the sinus cavities since they have too large of a particle size to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and up to the sinusitis infection.
Sinus Dynamics is the latest treatment for sinusitis infections that will clear up the infection and its symptoms. Sinus Dynamics uses nebulized antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories in a 3.2 micron particle size to rapidly fight through the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavity to easily arrive and fight the sinusitis infection. Since Sinus Dynamics medications are topical, there are little to no side effects and they stay in the blood stream around the sinus cavities. Sinus Dynamics nebulized therapy is safe, easy, and has a 98% success rate in patients.
