Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Nasal Irrigator

Nasal irrigation is the process of letting a liquid mixture flow into and out of your nasal passages in order to clear out blockages and provide moisture. The said liquid mixture can be as simple as pure water, or as complex as a custom compound medication used for curing infections.

Forming the habit of doing nasal irrigation is a good way to promote respiratory health. It can help prevent sinus infections, allergy attacks, rhinitis, common colds, and other related upper respiratory conditions. By clearing out particles such as infectious bacteria, allergens and excess mucus discharge, the nasal passages are kept clean and disinfected as a result of nasal irrigation.

A nasal irrigator is a tool used for performing nasal irrigation. As previously mentioned, there are a lot of different mixtures that you can use for nasal irrigation. That is why there are also a lot of different types of nasal irrigators available. There are irrigators that provide a basic saline wash for individuals who wish to have convenient kits to carry out their nasal irrigation routine. Some are used for supplying the proper mix of medicines in treating various bothersome and distressing respiratory conditions.

There are nasal irrigators that are easily bought over the counter. These are the most convenient kinds. Some irrigators need to be prescribed, especially if they contain strong medications such as antibiotics. Others need to be assembled or prepared before use - these give you the flexibility to control variables such as the ingredients you want to put in your irrigation mix, and the pressure control for letting the liquid mixture flow to your nasal passages.

Nasal sprays and aerosolizing devices can also be considered nasal irrigators. These apply liquid medicated mixtures topically to the nasal areas to treat infections and damaged tissues. At the same time, they also flush out the unwanted substances that cause the damage and make the infection worse than it should be.

Sinus Dynamics offers an aerosolizing device that is manufactured with the use of the latest technology in its field. Relief from various respiratory conditions is delivered in just a few minutes, making you feel better almost instantly. Infection is prevented from coming back with the use of this device, since skilled Sinus Dynamics pharmacists prepare the right medication in it for you.
