Sinusitis Infection Congestion

Sinusitis can cause nasal and sinus congestion.  Congestion is an abnormal or excessive accumulation of a body fluid.  Nasal congestion is blockage of the nasal passages usually due to the membrane lining of the nose becoming swollen from inflamed blood vessels.  The impact of congestion in the sinus and nasal passages can be mild to life threatening.  Inflammation in the sinus and nasal passages can interfere with breathing, heart rate, sleep, as well as hearing and produce ear infection and complicate conditions already present in the nasal cavity as well as impair sleep.  Common causes of congestion are allergic reactions, common cold, flu, deviated septum, hay fever, as well as sinusitis.  Sinus and nasal congestion can induce headaches, mild facial pain and pressure in the eyes and ears.  Congestion is uncomfortable and it is experienced as excessive build up of fluid in the nasal passage due to the swollen membranes.  Sinus and nasal congestion obstructs the airways and impairs the flow of nasal fluids that can stem from a simple cold or flu and later result in a sinusitis infection congestion.

Inflammation

Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses caused by a blockage in the sinus cavity that stems from the presence of foreign debris in the sinus passages.  Blocked sinuses are very uncomfortable as pressure builds in the swollen sinus cavities.  There are various methods used to treat a sinusitis infection and experience symptom relief.  The need to drain the sinuses is vital to return quality of life and functional breathing.  Drainage is required for symptom relief when there is a blockage or severe congestion.  Drainage is the act or process of drawing off fluids from a cavity or wound by means of suction or gravity.  During a sinusitis infection it is experienced as a cold that won’t go away, nasal pressure, pain, postnasal drip, headache, pressure in the face and cheeks.  The blockage of bacteria, fungi or virus also triggers excess mucus production in the sinus cavities and inflammation due to the pathogens attacking the sinus cavity openings.  When the sinus cavity openings are attacked this leads to a more serious sinus infection.  Sinusitis develops typically when there is existing inflammation from a cold or allergy.  When bacteria get into the sinus cavities, they attack the swelling of the cavity lining, causing more inflammation.  During a sinusitis infection, the cilia which are small hairs in the nasal passageways cannot perform their function of removing the debris that is blocked inside the sinus cavity.

Treatments that provide some relief

Antihistamines are beneficial in reducing the production of mucus and alleviating congestion.  Antihistamines are often part of the treatment regimen during a sinusitis infection.  Taking over the counter antihistamines such as Benadryl, Sudafed, or Claritin is helpful in clearing up excess mucus that can trigger sinusitis as well as clearing the symptoms such as headache that can accompany a sinusitis infection.  Antihistamines are “any drug that neutralizes the effects of histamine, used especially in the treatment of allergies.”  Any treatment that attacks the cause of the inflammation will be helpful in eradicating the sinusitis headache.  The most common treatment methods used to treat a sinusitis infection are oral antibiotics, decongestants, nasal sprays, and of course rest, drinking plenty of fluids to flush the system, as well as using warm compresses and inhaling warm water vapor to alleviate pain and pressure in the face.

A nasal spray is a treatment method that is widely recommended during a sinusitis infection that can provide some sinus relief.  Nasal sprays are obtained over the counter or prescribed by a physician.  However, due to the design of the nasal spray bottle, a nasal spray emits a large particle size that cannot fit into the tiny sinus openings.  Nor can the nasal spray particle reach into the upper sinus passages.  The large particle delivered into the sinuses from the nasal spray cannot flush out the congestion or treat the inflamed openings of the sinus cavities, or remove pathogens caught inside the upper sinus cavities.  Therefore, nasal sprays provide treatment to the lower nasal passages only as well as removes pathogens from the lower sinus regions.  When physicians have failed in treating the sinusitis infection, they will recommend sinus surgery.  Sinus surgery is painful and only clears out a portion of the infection; usually the sinusitis infection returns requiring patients to have future surgeries.

Sinus Dynamics offers the most innovative treatment for sinusitis infection currently on the market with custom compounded antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories that are delivered directly into the sinus cavities with a state of the art nebulizer that produce a pressurized aerosolized mist.  Sinus Dynamics nebulizer emits a fine medicated mist with 3.2-micron particle size that can rapidly enter the inflamed sinus cavities, depositing medication and making contact with the infection directly. The aerosolized medicated mist is sent up into nasal passages reaching the actual site of the sinusitis infection, fighting the infection on contact.  Sinus Dynamics’ topical approach to treating sinusitis is particularly effective as medications that are topically applied result in little to no side effects and ensure a low systemic absorption rate as well as reaching the site of infection unlike the other treatment methods prescribed.  Sinus Dynamics sinus therapy is highly effective, easy to use, and safe with a 98% success rate in the treatment of patients who are suffering with sinusitis.  Sinus Dynamics can treat your sinusitis infection congestion today, call now (877) 447-4276.
