Sinusitis Infection and Dizziness

Sinusitis is pervasive inflammation of the sinus area caused by a blockage of bacteria, fungi, virus or foreign debris in the sinus cavities.  Sinuses are actually air filled hollow cavities which are connected that humidify and heat inhaled air, decrease the relative weight of the front of the skull, insulate sensitive structures, increase voice resonance, and provide a buffer against any blow to the face.  The sinuses are lined with soft pink tissues called mucosa inside of the nasal passages.  There are four sets of paranasal sinuses.  The frontal sinuses are located above the sphenoid, ethmoid, and maxillary sinuses.  The frontal sinuses are not present at birth but develop between age seven and eight years old typically.  The frontal sinuses are located in the low center of the forehead and form the hard part of the forehead.  The back of the frontal sinuses are the actual bone that overlay the brain.  Inflammation in the frontal sinuses can produce serious complications due to the close proximity to the brain, such as meningitis, orbital cellulitis, epidural and subdural abscesses.  A sinusitis infection in the frontal sinuses will likely result in headache, facial pressure and dizziness.

Sinusitis develops when the inflamed sinus cavity openings are attacked during the course of a cold or an allergy.  This increase of inflammation at the sinus cavity openings leads to a more serious sinus infection that traps bacteria in the sinus cavities.  During a sinusitis infection, the cilia which are small hairs in the nasal passageways cannot perform their function of removing the debris that is blocked inside the sinus cavity.   There are a myriad of symptoms that take place with a sinusitis infection.  Common symptoms of a sinusitis infection include: cough, headache, upper respiratory congestion, postnasal drip, nasal discharge, fever, facial pain and facial pressure.  At night, the sinusitis symptoms can worsen when lying down, as mucus and phlegm settle back into the sinuses and throat allowing for congestion, blocked airways and nasal discharge to take place.  A diagnosis of chronic sinusitis can also result in a reduction in the sense of smell and taste.  As the causes of chronic sinusitis is poorly understood exploring environmental factors, like dust and mold, bacteria, fungus, and pollution are useful in causation.

Sinusitis does typically require medication and there are several different treatment options available.  Many physicians prescribe oral antibiotics to treat sinusitis; oral antibiotics are currently the most common treatment prescribed for a sinusitis infection and yet they are marginally effective.  Oral antibiotics unfortunately rely on the blood stream and blood vessels exclusively to carry medication to the infected sinus cavity.  Relying on the sinus cavities to provide the medication through the limited supply of blood vessels is problematic as the blood vessels cannot deliver an effective dose of medication to the actual site of infection.  Recurrent sinusitis infections are common with the use of oral antibiotics due to the blood vessels inability to provide an effective dose to the site of infection.  The sinus cavities scant supply of blood vessels which are swollen and infected providing all the treatment to the infection results in an ineffective method for treating this area of the body.

A Nasal spray is a treatment method that is widely recommended for a sinusitis infection and can provide some sinus relief but limited in providing actual treatment.  Nasal sprays are obtained over the counter or prescribed by a physician.    Due to the design of the bottle, a nasal spray emits a large particle size that cannot fit into the tiny sinus openings nor can the particle reach into the upper nasal passage.  This large particle size cannot treat the inflamed openings of the sinus cavities nor remove the pathogens caught inside the upper sinus cavities.    For effective treatment, medication is needed to make contact with the infected areas that are often deep inside the sinus cavities.   Therefore, a nasal spray can only offer limited relief and treatment to the lower sinuses in a sinusitis infection and definitely could not reach the deep sinuses located deep in the skull, such as the sphenoid sinuses.  Nasal sprays only treat the lower nasal passages and remove pathogens in the lower sinus regions.

Sinus Dynamics’ offers custom compounded antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories that are delivered topically into the sinus cavities with a state of the art nebulizer.  The nebulizer emits a fine medicated mist with 3.2-micron sized particle that can rapidly enter the inflamed sinus cavities and fight through the bacteria, reaching the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities. Sinus Dynamics offers the most effective treatment for all types of sinusitis infections by delivering medication directly in the sinus cavity.  The medication reaches the site of infection through the pressurized aerosolized mist that can then travel up into the inflamed sinuses.  The aerosolized medicated mist is sent up into the actual site of the sinusitis infection, fighting the infection on contact.  Sinus Dynamics’ topical approach to treating sinusitis is highly effective as medications that are topically applied result in little to no side effects and ensure a low systemic absorption rate.  Sinus Dynamics sinus therapy is highly effective, easy to use, and safe with a 98% success rate in the treatment of patients who are suffering with sinusitis infections. Call Sinus Dynamics (877) 447-4276 if you suffer with sinusitis infection and dizziness for the best topical treatment available!
