Sinusitis Infections Chronic

A sinusitis infection is inflammation that develops when a blockage or bacteria irritates the sinus cavities which are already inflamed by bacteria or other foreign pathogens.  Sinusitis results when the inflammation of the sinus cavity openings is so great that the cavity opening is swollen shut, causing bacteria and mucus to become trapped.  Pressure builds and facial discomfort frequently occurs when the bacteria and mucus are trapped in the sinus cavity.  Duration of the illness will determine whether it is chronic as will additional symptoms.

The cilia, small hairs in the nasal passages that exist to remove debris from the sinus area, cannot perform their intended function when the inflammation seals the sinus cavity opening shut. Bacteria and mucus cannot be flushed out and begin to multiply and the sinusitis infection flourishes.  Common symptoms of a sinusitis infection include cough, congestion, nasal discharge, postnasal drip, and facial pain and pressure.

  • ·         When the sinusitis infection lasts for twelve or more weeks it is classified as a chronic sinusitis infection and there may be other symptoms that develop such as dental pain, loss of taste and smell, as well as fatigue.
  • ·         Those who suffer with a compromised immune system may also suffer with sinusitis that is caused by a fungus.

Treatments for acute and chronic sinusitis are the same

There are many treatments for sinusitis infection chronic that exist and understanding what type of sinusitis infection that has developed is essential for eradication of the infection.  The treatment options  that exist for sinusitis do provide some relief  and often found  are over the counter.  Over the counter or prescribed nasal sprays are often recommended as part of the treatment regimen.  Nasal sprays are effective in flushing and cleansing out the lower sinus cavity but cannot cure the sinusitis infection due to the large particle size emitted from the nasal spray.  The large particle emitted from the nasal spray cannot fit through the inflamed opening of the sinus cavity nor can it reach up into the upper sinus cavity and deposit medication or solution to the infected site. Oral antibiotics are typically prescribed during the course of a chronic sinusitis infection.

How oral antibiotics attempt to treat a sinus infection:

·         Oral medications and antibiotics work by traveling though the blood stream to the area of infection via the blood vessels.  The sinus cavities lack the quantity of vessels found in other parts of the body, making the blood vessels in the sinus cavity a poor conduit to treat the infected area.  The sinus cavities then do not receive a large quantity of medication due to the lack of blood vessels and cannot provide an effective dose of medication to the sinusitis infection.

How a topical treatment treats a sinus infection:

Sinus Dynamics sinus therapy program uses custom compounded medication with a state of the art nebulizer to deliver a medicated mist deep into the sinus cavities.  The Sinus Dynamics treatment approach is the most innovative treatment for chronic and acute sinusitis infections on the market.  Sinus Dynamics custom compounded antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories are emitted from a nebulizer that delivers a 3.2 micron particle into the sinus cavity.  The medicated mist can pass through the inflammation into the opening of the sinus cavities and into the infection.  Sinus Dynamics nebulized medications are topically applied to the infected area, treating the infection directly.  There are little to no side effects since Sinus Dynamics medications are topical and enter the blood stream on the effected site.  Call Sinus Dynamics! Ask about our sinus therapy which has a 98% success rate in treating patients with sinusitis infection chronic clearly demonstrating that it is one of the most successful treatments for sinusitis.
