Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection
It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants. Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication. |
A sinusitis infection is an inflammatory condition of the sinus cavities. A sinusitis infection begins with existing inflammation from a cold or allergy. When bacteria get into the sinus cavities and attack the already swollen cavity lining, a nasal polyp is formed causing the bacteria and mucus to become trapped. The cilia then can no longer flush out the bacteria and mucus and the infection begins. There are many symptoms of a sinusitis infection which may include postnasal drip, green nasal discharge, cough, congestion, and facial pain and pressure. A patient may also have difficulty breathing through the nose since the polyp is obstructing the nasal airway.
There are many treatments for a sinusitis infection. Frequently physicians will prescribe oral antibiotics which work on infections by traveling through the blood steam to the infected area. However, in the sinus cavities there are only a small amount of blood vessels so it is hard for an efficient amount of medication to be delivered. Nasal sprays are also frequently used though their particle size is too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and may only offer relief to the lower part of the sinuses. Surgery is a treatment which is usually used when all other forms of treatment have failed. Surgery often only offers temporary relief since they usually only remove a portion of the polyp so the infection frequently returns.
Sinus Dynamics is the most innovative form of treatment for a sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and anti-fungals are used in a nebulized form, making it simple for the 3.2 micron particles to make their way through the polyp at the opening of the sinus cavity, and strait to the sinusitis infection. Sinus Dynamics nebulized antibiotics are much more effective than oral antibiotics since they are directly nebulized into the sinusitis infection. There are little to no side effects since a small amount of Sinus Dynamics topical medication is used. Sinus Dynamics has a 98% success rate in patients which clearly shows that it is the safest and most successful treatment for a sinusitis infection.
