Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Sinusitis Problems

Sinusitis is an inflammatory condition of the sinus cavities caused by a blockage of bacteria and mucus.  Sinusitis begins when a person has a cold or allergy which causes swelling of the sinus cavity walls.  When bacteria get into the sinus cavities, they attack this already swollen lining, causing greater inflammation and making the cilia unsuccessful in flushing out the bacteria and mucus.  There are many symptoms of sinusitis which may include postnasal drip, cough, congestion, green nasal discharge, and facial pain and pressure.  When sinusitis lasts for twelve weeks or more, some added problems that a patient may face is loss of sense of taste and smell and they may become fatigued.

There are many treatment forms for sinusitis and the problems that come along with it.  Frequently physicians prescribe oral antibiotics which travel through the blood stream to the area of infection.  One of the problems with using oral antibiotics for a sinusitis infection is that there is only a small amount blood vessels in the sinus cavities, therefore an efficient amount of the medication cannot be delivered to the sinusitis infection.  Nasal sprays are also commonly used and also has problems making it up to the sinusitis infection because they have such a large particle size that cannot get past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities.

Sinus Dynamics is the most effective and innovative treatment for sinusitis that will clear up the infection and its symptoms.  Sinus Dynamics uses nebulized antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and anti-fungals in a 3.2 micron sized particle to rapidly fight through the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavity to easily arrive and fight the sinusitis infection problem.  Since Sinus Dynamics medications are topical, there are little to no side effects and they stay in the blood stream around the sinus cavities.  Sinus Dynamics nebulized therapy is safe, easy, and has a 98% success rate in treatment of patients.
