Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.

Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.

Sinusitis Rhinitis Natural Cure

Sinusitis is the inflammation of the nasal sinuses. It may or may not be the result of an infection. Various elements like bacteria, fungi, viruses and/or allergens can contribute to sinusitis. The inflammation of the sinuses includes some inflammation of the nose as well, which is called rhinitis. Rhinitis is also caused by an increase in histamine. This increase is caused by airborne allergens, which can cause an increase in fluid production within the nose, throat or eyes. Bacteria, viruses or irritants in turn can cause chronic or acute inflammation of the mucous membrane.

If you suffer from sinusitis, rhinitis, or just have mild allergies, there are natural cures for your symptoms that you could consider.

First you have to determine the factors or elements that cause your symptoms. Since a major cause of rhinitis is airborne allergens, your living conditions may contribute to your symptoms. Allergens may be present in your environment that may cause your sinusitis to flare up. Your carpet may contain fungus or pet dander which can trigger your allergies. Have your carpets cleaned and sanitized regularly.

You could also be living in dry areas. Dry humidity may cause the drying out of nasal mucous, making it thick and difficult to get rid of. Stagnant mucous is a perfect host for bacteria to live in. A humidifier can set the right atmosphere in your home. Invest in a good humidifier if your home is prone to dry humidity.

The changing of seasons also affects the increase of allergens in the atmosphere. Spring and fall seasons have high pollen counts in the air and these are the worst seasons for people with rhinitis.

If you have just mild sinusitis or rhinitis, a natural cure is often preferred before having to resort to medical treatments. But when a natural cure just doesn't cut it for your sinusitis or rhinitis, consult your physician for a proper diagnosis on the kind of infection you may have and the treatment options for you. Sinus Dynamics has a treatment program that could be right for you. With an easy to use nebulizer, you can treat your symptoms without the hassle of complicated gadgets and hard to follow instructions. A Sinus Dynamics expert is always standing by to assist you on your queries regarding the product.
