Commonly Asked Questions

Q: How do the Sinus Dynamics™ treatment options differ from other nasal allergy or sinusitis treatments

A: Sinus Dynamics™ offers 3 methods of topical sinus treatments that have the ability to dispense compounded medications directly into the nasal and sinus cavities.

Aerosolized Therapy

Our pharmacy provides the latest aerosolizing technology with 3 types of nebulizers to choose from. All of our nebulizers produce a particle size of 1.0 to 3.2 microns allowing the medications to travel into those hard to reach regions within the sinus cavities.

Irrigation Therapy

Medicated Irrigation is commonly prescribed to flush the nasal cavities with a saline or medicated solution. Our pharmacy offers a FREE ActiveSinus™ Saline Rinse Kit with every medicated irrigation prescription. The ActiveSinus™ brand includes an all natural sea salt mixture. Its custom molded irrigator does not include an inner tube eliminating the risks of trapped bacteria.

Atomized Therapy

The NasaTouch™ is a Portable Powered Atomizer that uses positive pressure to propel liquid solutions deep within the nasal passages and sinus cavities. It has the ability to atomize 2mL of solution in only 30 seconds with the capacity to hold up to 15mL of solution. It is designed to collect the solution, as it falls, in a separate dedicated collection chamber within the atomizer cup - preventing contamination.

Q: How are authorizations and billing handled?

A: General Home Pharmacy's (SinusDynamics™) experienced representatives will handle all authorizations and billing.

Q: Are the medications covered by Insurance?

A: Yes, 95% of the time the medications are covered by the patient's Insurance provider. GHP (Sinus Dynamics™) is a Medicare provider and is contracted with most national and regional Preferred Provider Networks (PPO) and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO).

Q: How do I refer a patient to your company?

A: GHP (Sinus Dynamics™) will prepare pre-printed prescription pads for each ordering physician, which will arrive via UPS. Once you receive the pad, all you need to do is complete the patient's information section, check the appropriate medication and treatment frequency and duration boxes, then simply fax the order form toll-free to 888-414-0666 and we will take care of the rest.

Q: After I fax the prescription, how is it handled?

A: Once we receive the prescription, our insurance representatives will contact the individual's provider to determine any out-of pocket expenses. The patient is then contacted and notified of any out-of-pocket expenses, including co-pays and deductibles. The shipment is then shipped via UPS directly to the patient.
In most cases, the patient can expect to receive their medication and equipment within two (2) days. Refrigerated medication will be shipped overnight at no cost to the patient.

Q: Do you offer any patient consultation?

A: Yes, we ask that each new patient contact us before beginning treatment. Each patient is consulted on how to use the equipment properly and will be contacted again during and after treatment. Physicians are notified via fax or e-mail concerning outcomes.

Q: What type of medication do you offer?

We offer Antibiotic, Antifungal, and Anti-inflammatory medications.

Q: How long does it take for the patient to receive their medication?

A: It takes 24 to 48 hours for our insurance reps to process insurance. Assuming a pre-authorization is not needed; it will then be shipped to the patient and will arrive in 1 to 2 days.

Preventing Sinusitis

To avoid developing sinusitis during a cold or allergy attack, keep your sinuses clear by:

  • Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant
  • To keep nasal discharge thin, you can use this technique: gently blow your nose and block one nostril by blowing through the other
  • Avoiding air travel. If you must fly, use a nasal spray decongestant before take-off to prevent blockage of the sinuses allowing mucus to drain
  • If you have allergies try to avoid contact with substances that trigger attacks

Allergy testing, followed by appropriate allergy treatments, may increase your tolerance of allergy-causing substances.

Sinusitis vs. Sinus Infection

Acute bacterial sinusitis is an infection of the sinus cavities caused by bacteria.

It usually is preceded by a cold, allergy attack, or irritation by environmental pollutants.
Unlike a cold, or allergy, bacterial sinusitis requires a physician's diagnosis and treatment with an antibiotic to cure the infection and prevent future complication.
